Ronald Guthrie

March 12, 1949 — March 3, 2019

Ronald Gene Guthrie, age 69, of Yakima passed away on March 3, 2019. Ron was born in Harrison, Arkansas on March 12, 1949 to Ray and Virginia (Jackson) Guthrie. He was one of nine children; one of those was his older identical twin brother (by 3 mins) Donald Guthrie. Don and Ron were inseparable and loved each others kids as if they were their own. Ron spent his life playing Real Country Music with his brothers and many family and friends. He didn’t care if it was at the kitchen table, around a campfire, in a park or a bar. He loved to sing to anyone that would listen and his favorite songs were those of George Jones. He and his family and friends spent many years playing together and enjoying life all over the Yakima Valley. Ron and the love of his life, Robin of 50 years worked hard side-by-side building their home and a sturdy life for their children. Ron enjoyed his last 10 years spending every moment he could enjoying life with Robin, his kids and his grandbabies. Every chance he could go hunting, fishing, camping or partying with any of them he was right there. Ron was a kind heart and would do anything he could to help any stranger. He was never too shy to talk to a stranger and make a friend. He held everyone he met in a special place in his heart. Especially a child, he was known as grandpa or Uncle Ronnie “The Candy Man”. Ron is survived by the one he loved the most Robin; his daughter Bev (David); his youngest son Shannon; granddaughters: Jennessy, Ashley (Brent), Alexis (Tyler), Lauren (James) and Hopelynn; great grandbabies Scooter (Chris), Amelia, and one on the way; his brothers Lee (Cindy), Loyde (Susan) and Rick (David); sister Loretta Deaver and not to mention all his nieces, nephews, and God grandbabies. He always wanted to make sure you knew he loved you all so very much. Ron has joined his oldest son Ronald (Sonny), his parents, step father, Twin and three brothers, 2 sister, brother-in-law, son-in-law and many family and friends. At his request there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to Yakima Memorial Hospice.
