Roger Grove

July 21, 1949 — March 1, 2023

Roger Grove, was born in Prosser Washington on July 21, 1949. Roger was active in the youth program at First Methodist Church in Grandview. He attended school in Grandview, Washington and graduated from Grandview High School in 1967. He attended Yakima Valley College. Roger was active in 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America. He was a delegate to the 1966 National 4-H Conference in Chicago as the entomology award winner from Washington. Roger worked with bees for the Hibbard/Massey bee keepers. He engineered and built a bee hive loader as an FFA project. Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1968 and rose to the rank of Army Sargent First Class. He was a drill instructor during the Vietnam War era. Roger was a volunteer fire fighter in the Grandview area as well as in Benton County. He was very service minded always helping someone in need. Roger enjoyed selling boats and working in the wheat fields in the Tri Cities. He was employed in the agriculture industry as a Concord Vineyard manager. He and his wife Sydne along with their son Josh and daughter in law Jill were co-owners of Highmark Transport moving mobile homes in seven western states. He finished his working career working for Alba Construction. He could drive and operate anything. He knew the roads/highway numbers and could direct you to any destination. He had driven truck in all the lower 48 states and often said he had driven more than a million miles. Roger loved his family. He was always available to take a call from a family member or friend. His wife, son and daughter knew that their husband and dad loved them. His three beautiful granddaughters were a pride and joy in his life. He loved his church family and served most recently as an elder. He loved our Heavenly Father and would encourage people who were struggling to help them find their path to Him. He was a good man. Roger was preceded in death by his father Irl Grove, in 2009. He is survived by his wife Sydne Grove of Grandview, son Joshua Grove and his wife Jill, daughter Katie Powell and her husband Jason all of Idaho, mother Clarice Grove who lives with Roger’s brother Jim Grove and his wife Susan at Anacortes, granddaughters Aspen and Ryan Grove, Haylee Powell and numerous cousins.
