Roger Gostnell

March 19, 1937 — August 24, 2014

Roger Alan Gostnell, 77, of Yakima, passed away on August 24, 2014 at Cottage In The Meadow. He was born on February 19, 1937 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Raymond and Naomi (Sloan) Gostnell. He attended second grade in Clarkston, Washington, third grade through seventh grade in Camas, Washington, eighth grade in Kennewick, Washington, and graduated from Columbia High School, in Richland, Washington. He joined the United Sates Air Force right out of high school, serving as an aerial photographer, and radio and tv announcer for Armed Forces Radio and Television Services in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and various stateside bases. He had many careers, including radio announcing, restaurant management, sales, and served as a Special Deputy for the Klamath Falls, Oregon, Sheriff’s office. He worked for the Washington State Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer for 12 years in Monroe and Yakima, retiring from Ahtanum View Corrections Center in 2001. Roger was a member of the VFW Post #379 and was an officer in the Foot Printers Organization, Chapter #38 in Yakima and belonged to the Yakima Chapter of the Gold Wing Road riders Association. He enjoyed watching sports, reading, fishing, and riding his Gold Wing. Roger is survived by his brothers, David, of Portland, Craig and Mark, both of Williams, Oregon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene.
