IN LOVING MEMORY OF ROGELIO “ROY” TORRES
June 7, 1966 – October 8, 2026
Forever Loved, Forever Remembered
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Rogelio “Roy” Torres, age 60, of Grandview, Washington, who passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Rogelio was born on June 7, 1966, in Guerrero, Mexico, to Encarnacion Chavez Torres and Venustiano Torres. He later made Washington his home, spending 26 years in Sunnyside, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
On July 4, 1992, Rogelio married the love of his life, Amelia Torres. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four daughters, who were his pride and joy.
Rogelio was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a hardworking man who always put his family first. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to working as a dairy herdsman, a profession he genuinely enjoyed and took great pride in. Above all, Rogelio was a provider. Everything he worked for was driven by his love for his wife and daughters. He wanted nothing more than to give his girls a good life and make sure they always had what they needed. His dedication, sacrifices, and strong work ethic reflected the unconditional love he had for his family. Through his actions, he taught his daughters the importance of hard work, responsibility, and always putting family first.
Those who knew Rogelio knew he had a wonderful sense of humor and a special gift for making others laugh. He enjoyed joking around and playing pranks on his coworkers and nephews, often bringing laughter and smiles to everyone around him. His playful personality, kindness, and warm presence made him someone who was loved and respected by many.
In his free time, Rogelio enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and barbecuing. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family and grandchildren. Whether he was gathered around the grill, sharing stories, making jokes, or simply enjoying the company of his loved ones, those were the moments he treasured most.
For seven years, Rogelio courageously battled ALS. Throughout his journey, he demonstrated remarkable strength, courage, and resilience. Despite the many challenges he faced, his love for his family remained unchanged. With the unwavering love, dedication, and care of his wife and daughters, Rogelio faced each day surrounded by those who loved him most.
Although ALS gradually took away his physical abilities, it could never take away his spirit, the love he carried in his heart, or the memories he created with those around him. His strength throughout his illness was a true reflection of the remarkable man he was.
Rogelio is survived by his beloved wife, Amelia Torres; his four loving daughters, Lizbet, Cynthia, Gabriela, and Amelia; and his cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Jessie, Roy, Millie, Cairo, and Jaylyn. He also leaves behind extended family members, friends, and many loved ones whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and unforgettable spirit.
Rogelio's greatest accomplishment was not measured by the years he worked or the things he owned, but by the beautiful family he raised and the love he gave. He spent his life working tirelessly to provide for his girls, and in return, he was surrounded by their unconditional love and care during his most difficult years. The same hands that worked so hard to provide for his family were lovingly held by those he had spent his life caring for.
He will forever be remembered for his hardworking nature, his contagious laughter, his love for the outdoors, and, most importantly, his endless devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and the countless memories they will carry in their hearts.
While our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace, free from the limitations of ALS. Though we wish we could have had more time with him, we are forever grateful for the love, lessons, laughter, and beautiful memories he leaves behind.
His strength inspired us, his laughter brought us joy, and his love will remain with us forever.
Rest peacefully, Roy. Your work here is done. You spent your life taking care of those you loved, and now it is your time to rest.
Forever loved, never forgotten, and always in our hearts. Until we meet again.
