Robin Mcclary

January 2, 1971 — October 24, 2016

Robin McClary died on October 24th, 2016 at The Cottage in the Meadows following a two year survival plan for cancer. Robin lived with cancer, but chose to live fully and pushed “Robin’s Team” to provide her with the best possible treatment plan. Robin began life early on January 2nd, 1971. Born pre-mature started her out with blindness in her right eye and difficulty walking. Her mother would not allow these challenges from holding Robin from participating as much as possible. This proved to be a mindset that helped deal with the cancer at the end of her life. Robin accomplished much in the short time she had. At sixteen, she traveled to Japan to study the language and culture. After graduating from Evergreen College, Robin moved to New York City where she trained computer technology at Morgan Stanley, Astra Zenica, and AXA Financial. She also devoted time working in homeless shelters to help those in need. Much of Robin’s team in New York City was lost on September 11th. Robin stayed on for several months to work in the pit helping to identify remains. Robin later returned to Yakima to live with her mother and devote the rest of her life teaching children. From then on, she referred to herself as “Teacher Robin” and is remembered by many of her young students. Robin is survived by her husband, David, and her stepson Conor. She leaves behind her father, Bill, her sisters Kelly, Gail, Diane, Mary and her brother Tim. Robin is best described as exuberant and she asks that people get out and frolic (clothing optional). To those family and friends on Robin’s team—thank you! Per Robin’s wishes, she will be cremated and a Life Celebration will be held in the spring. Until then, TTFN. For those that need to express themselves in any fashion, please think of The Cottage in the Meadow and North Star Lodge. The folks at both of these facilities have been a bastion and deserve accolades and praise as well as treats. They have been amazing.
