Roberta L. Reynolds

March 4, 1941 — April 13, 2026

Roberta (Bobbie) Lynn Reynolds, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at her apartment at the Ponderosa Assisted Living in Yakima, Washington. She was 85 years old.

Bobbie was born in Anchorage Alaska on March 4, 1941, to Buelah (Brownie) Iris and Dr. William R. Coleman while he served in the US Army. She outlived her parents and two siblings, William and Rodney Coleman.

Bobby earned her bachelor's degree from Whitworth College. At age 25, she married David Reynolds, and together they had two sons. After their marriage ended seven years later, Bobby moved back to Wapato, her childhood home. She attended Central Washington University and became a teacher for the Wapato School District in 1972 where she taught elementary students for 38 years.

She is remembered fondly by those who attended Wapato elementary school. She believed in kindness and deep love for reading and animals, especially cats. She eventually became known as our Mom Cat. She often helped care for stray cats in her neighborhood by having them spayed and neutered.

Bobby was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Teachers

Society Phi Theta Kappa. She was active in the Presbyterian Church in Wapato and later Parker Heights Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday school over the years and enjoyed helping children learn about history and faith. She was a Cub Scout Den mother while her two boys were young and was known for baking thousands of cupcakes and cookies for school and community events. She loved to read and visit the Oregon Coast when she could.

Bobby is survived by her two sons, Mark and Michael Reynolds; her daughter-in-law, Jami Reynolds; her grand- children, Katherine, Jacob, Samantha, and James; three great-grandchildren, Aurilya, Rosalia, and Matthew; two nephews, William and Robert Coleman.

Bobby has a number of close friends in the Wapato area that meant everything to her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, her dedication to children, and her caring heart. She made a lasting impact on many lives and will be deeply missed.

As she wished, Bobbie was cremated. A memorial service is planned this summer at the Parker Heights Presbyterian Church. For additional information or questions please contact her son, Mark Reynolds, at 509.895.4199. I'll see you again my sweet mom cat.
