Robert Lynn Sager

August 2, 1944 – September 22, 2026

Robert “Bob” Lynn Sager, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Toppenish, Washington, on September 22, 2026.

Robert was born on August 2, 1944, in Toppenish, Washington, to Robert William Sager and Betty Della (Chinn) Sager. He grew up in Toppenish and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1962. He later proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Germany during his service.

On January 4, 1969, Robert married Frances Kay Markham. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage, building a life filled with family, hard work, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Frances preceded him in death on September 12, 2025.

Throughout his life, Robert worked in several industries, bringing a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn to every role. He delivered produce from local farms, drove a semitruck across the country, worked for Washington Beef, and operated his own business. He also shared a special connection with Hazel’s Candies, where he made candy for his aunt and uncle, Merv and Virginia. Working alongside family at a local business that created sweet treats and fond memories for so many was especially meaningful to him. His final—and favorite—career adventure was with People for People, where he formed many cherished friendships. Robert loved helping others and found great purpose in serving his community.

Beyond his career, Robert enjoyed finding a “good deal” and always seemed to have an adventure or project to keep him busy. He loved playing cards, especially Pinochle, Hand and Foot, and Dominoes, with family and friends. He was a proud father and enjoyed following the lives of his children and grandchildren and was always eager to hear about their latest adventures, accomplishments, and milestones.

Bob also enjoyed antique shopping, trips to the beach and sand doons, boating, fishing, and camping. He had a knack for finding the fun in life and the people he met along the way. Most importantly, Robert loved people. No matter where he went, he seemed to run into someone he knew—or made a new friend. His friendly nature, willingness to help, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Robert is survived by his son, Jason Sager, and wife, Nancy Hartman, of Moxee, Washington; daughter, Amanda Sloan, and husband, Daniel Sloan, of Burlington, Washington; six grandchildren, Cody and Ashlyne Sager, Boe and Luke Hartman, and Maxx and Dagny Sloan; two great-grandchildren, Parker Sager and Delilah Sager; brother, Randall Sager, and wife, Tracy; sister-in-law, Judy Markham; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 218 W. 3rd Street, Wapato, Washington. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Fullbright Park and Agricultural Museum, 4508 Main Street, Union Gap, for a spaghetti lunch and an afternoon of sharing memories and celebrating Bob’s life.
