Robert Melton

Robert Eugene Melton Sr. (BUD) Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by Family on Saturday May 4, 2019. Robert was born in Yakima Washington April 5, 1929. Graduated from Highland High School where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He was honorably discharged from the Army after serving at Fort Ord CA. and eventually Fort Lewis WA. Robert married Mary Ellen Blondin “The love of his life” in October 1949. The two made their home in Yakima WA. Bud was self-employed operating an excavation business for many years as well as an apple orchard. Bud enjoyed volunteering at Holy Family Church as a Knight of Columbus for many years and also helped build the Church with his excavation business. Bud was survived by his wife Mary Melton, sons Robert Melton Jr., Dave Melton, & Steve Melton, daughter Deborah Kirby, sisters Darlene Bunger, Donna Mae Evans. He was preceded in death by his daughter Denise Packard, parents John and Louise Melton, and brother Paul Melton. Bud enjoyed his eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Church, 5315 Tieton Dr. Yakima WA. 98908, at 10:00 AM Friday May 10, 2019. Reception will follow in the Church Hall with a Graveside Service following the reception at Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Bud will be deeply missed by his loving family and great friends!
