Robert L. Kennedy, 87 of Yakima passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at home from pulmonary fibrosis. He was born March 12, 1931 in Grand Ronde, Oregon to Albert Hugh Kennedy and Pearl Ellen Kennedy.
At age 17 Robert enlisted in the army and was stationed in Panama. After his honorable discharge from the service he married the love of his life, Eunice Marie Emmil on Valentine’s Day in 1953. Together they had 2 children.
He was bridge foreman for Yakima County and retired from there. In his spare time he was always building houses or helping family with their remodeling projects.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. The freezer was always full of salmon, steelhead and deer. He always got his limit at Draino.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eunice, four sisters, two brothers and special friend Gwen Stevens. He is survived by his sister Sharon Anne Kennedy Williams, daughter Barbara Kennedy, son Robert Kennedy, two granddaughters Jeanette Robles and Melissa Cordova, six great grand children Mia, Maliah, Elias, Izeiah, Emilio, and Lorenzo, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Tahoma Cemetery (1802 Tahoma Ave., Yakima). Please join the family for refreshments at Dad’s house following the service.
