Robert Jacobson

January 12, 1928 — August 20, 2016

Robert George Jacobson, 88 of Zillah, WA passed away on August 20, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow hospice-care in Yakima, WA. He left this earth with his loved ones by his side. Bob was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 12, 1928 and grew up in the Monroe area. He proudly served his country during the Korean War where he was wounded & awarded the Purple Heart. In the years following his military service, Bob owned & operated his own trucking business and traveled the countryside. Eventually he ended up in WA where he went to work for Fred Sandoz who became his close friend. When Fred Sandoz passed away, his son Clark & daughter-in-law Meredith took over the farm & Bob remained with them working the farm until his retirement. Over the years he developed a close and loving relationship with Clark & Meredith in the same way he had with Fred, Clark’s father. In the years that followed, he always considered them family. Bob’s hobbies included fishing & hunting with his family. He loved children & they loved him. He had a warm and infectious laugh & a mischievous smile. He was an honest man who worked hard his entire life which was evidenced by the thick calluses on his hands. He was a strong man both physically & emotionally. He would do anything for those he cared for. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Margaret & George Jacobson of WI, wife LaVera (Trudy) Jacobson of WA, stepson Elvin Brundidge of WA, grandson Jeffrey of WI, son-in-law Ronnie Nyberg of OR, and companion Barbara Alan of WA. He leaves behind brothers, Earl Jacobson & wife Jean of WI, Donald Jacobson & wife Corrine of WI, sister Doris Thompson of WI, daughters Barbie Crites & husband Brian of KS, Patti Ayotte of WI, Judy Roderick of AZ, Linda Barton of AZ, step-daughters Connie Ratliff of CA, Donna Nyberg of OR, step-son Mike Dorgan of WA, and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
