Robert (Bob) Leo Golob, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima, WA. Bob resided for 73 years on his dairy farm in Granger, WA. Bob was born January 12, 1931, in Delta, Utah. At the age of 12, he and his family moved to Granger, WA, to continue raising turkeys, and this is where Bob’s dad started dairy farming in 1944 at their current location. Bob graduated from Granger High School in 1949. He then served in the Coast Guard for 3 years, where he was stationed in Astoria, OR. He married Edna Hedden on October 9, 1954, before returning to Granger to dairy in 1955. Bob continued to dairy with four of his sons until his death. Bob, a devout Catholic, inspired others through his faith. He was an actively involved parishioner of St. Patrick's (now Our Lady of Guadalupe) Catholic Church since moving to Granger. Over the years, Bob has been involved with numerous boards and community organizations including: Western Farmer’s Agriculture Supply, Home Security/American West Bank, Bleyhl’s Farm Service, Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District (SVID), Central Washington State Fair Board, All West Breeders, Washington State Dairy Products Commission, Washington State Dairy Federation, Granger Alumni Association, Lincoln/Outlook Grange and the Father Rhinehold Scholarship Committee. When Bob found the time, he enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting with family and friends. Family gatherings were very important to him. Survivors include his wife, Edna Golob, their five sons Paul (Jan) Golob, Charles (Elida) Golob, Keith (Joyce) Golob, Kevin (Elaine) Golob, Jeff (Janet) Golob, and one daughter, Mary (James) Klarich. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Couette , Carol McKay and brother, John Golob as well as 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren with more on the way! He was preceded in death by his parents Bernice and Frank Golob and son, Joseph Golob. Visitation to be held Friday, February 26, 5 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. The viewing will be followed by the rosary at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 27, 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger, WA. A reception will follow at the Roosevelt Elementary School in Granger. Private burial services will be in the Lower Valley Cemetery, Sunnyside, WA. Memorial donations may be made to Cottage in the Meadow (Yakima, WA), Granger Alumni Association Scholarship Fund (Granger, WA), or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (Granger, WA).
