Ricky Anthony Starr

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Rick Anthony Starr this August 23rd 2026,

who was born March 18th, 1967. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother,

and was cherished by many family members and friends. Rick was a member of the Yakama Nation

and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1987.

Rick was born in Toppenish, Washington, to Anette (Sheila) Starr and James Starr Sr. He lived a

childhood filled with love and an adventurous spirit. After his tour in the Navy, he returned home

and served his community through various employment opportunities with the tribe. He held a

special place in his heart for working at the Indian Health Clinic, as it was there that he met the

love of his life. He then married Trish Lamebull-Starr on July 8th 2006, and they renewed their

vows on October 10th 2015.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, James Starr Sr., and his brother, James Starr Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Anette (Sheila) Starr; his wife, Trish Lamebull-Starr; his brother, Brian

Starr Sr. (Madeline); his children, Devon Klinekole (Sam), Brett Whalawitsa, and Louden

Whalawitsa; and his grandchildren, Kaeden Lamebull, Tristan Klinekole, Kellen Klinekole, Xander

Klinekole, Rylee Whalawitsa, and Scarlett Whalawitsa.

Services will begin Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Wapato Longhouse, continuing with

overnight services beginning at 7:00 p.m., followed by a midnight meal. Morning prayer will begin

at 8:00 a.m., followed by procession to Toppenish Creek Cemetery, where Rick will be laid to rest.
