Richard Rodriguez Jr., 74, passed away on September 20, 2025, in White Swan, Washington. He was born on February 28, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Richard and Isabel Rodriguez. Richard married Grace Rodriguez on October 30, 1981, and later divorced. He subsequently married Sara Byrd, with whom he built a life until his passing.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony Rodriguez, Joseph Rodriguez (Julie), and Jared ‘Okusi (Marisa); his beloved grandchildren, Lilyanna, Tasha, Netane, Donte, David, Stevi, Grace, and Addy; his sister-in-law, Shandra Brennan; and brother-in-law, David Brennan. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Jaine Hooper, Jimmy Hooper, Jerry Dick (Alvina), Shamira Moore (Jason), and Calvin Moore (Sophie); and sister-in-laws, Debra Byrd and Cindy Sampson. He was preceded in death by his son, David ‘Okusi; his parents, Richard and Isabel Rodriguez; and his mother-in-law, Kaye Williams.

Richard worked at JCPenney and Woolworths before beginning a 21-year career with the Newspaper Agency Corporation, where he was respected and loved by his coworkers. A lifelong sports fan, Richard especially enjoyed basketball and football. His favorite teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Raiders, and after moving to Washington, he became a devoted Seattle Seahawks supporter.

His two favorite movies were Born In East LA and Beverly Hills Cop, which he probably watched at least a thousand times each.

Richard will be remembered for his sense of humor, dedication to his family, and the friendships he built throughout his life.

Services

A Dressing Service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Pacific time) at Mt. Adams Community Center, 70 Rodeo Drive, White Swan, WA 98952. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. (Pacific time) at Yesmowit Cemetery, White Swan, WA

May he rest in peace, free from pain, and embraced by the loved ones who welcomed him home in heaven.
