Rex David Schenck of Selah passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 29, 2013. Rex was born Nov. 11, 1967 in Port Angeles, WA to Phil and Anna Schenck. He graduated from Sunnyside High School. Later he served in the US Navy for 6 years and was a Veteran of Desert Storm. He graduated from Central Washington University with a Masters in Teaching and taught school at Wapato High School. He also owned VMACS, an ecological restoration company. Rex loved spending time with his family and going to the outdoors. He is survived by his wife Karen Schenck of Selah; daughters, Jordyn Schenck and Jessica Schenck of Selah; son, Jace Schenck of Selah; parents, Phil and Anna Schenck of Sunnyside; brothers, Phil Schenck and Joe Schenck of Sunnyside and Ron Schenck of Kennewick; and sister, Dessie Oxley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A celebration of life with military honors will be held on Wednesday Sept. 4, 2013 at 4 PM at Selah Covenant Church. Special thank you to Yakima Regional Hospice, Yakima Oncology, North Star Lodge and friends in the community. Memorials can be made to an educational fund for his children in care of Valley Hills Funeral Home.
