Raymon Jasper Lunyou, 81 of Wapato, WA passed away June 25, 2017 at Cottage in the Meadow(After a brief illness). He was born to Alfred and Daisy(Hicks) Lunyou on March 2, 1936 in Campbell, Missouri.
He traveled from Missouri to Washington for several years with his parents, settling in 1952. Ray was in the Coast Guard from Feb. 1957-May 1957, honorably discharged.
He married Rhea Dewhirst on July 25, 1958 in Prosser, WA. Their son Gary was born Feb 12, 1960.
Ray worked in various farm jobs, delivered milk for Maple Leaf Dairy, and while working for Webb Tractor, Ray attended welding classes. Ray retired in 1998 after 30+ years as a welder with N.C Machinery.
Ray enjoyed fishing, bowling, antiquing, building bird houses, and playing cards with family and friends. Camping was high on his list of things he liked to do. He enjoyed his fifth wheel trailer very much until his eyesight began to fail in 2004 due to Macular Degeneration.
Ray is survived by his son, Gary (Taryn) Lunyou of Wapato; grandchildren, Robert (Carrie) Lunyou of Yakima, Trixie (Garrick) Hill of Spokane, Tim (Allen) and (LaRay) Sweezea of Calahan, CO, Kurt Sweazea of Zillah, Tiffany (John) DiMauro of Yakima; great grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Kenadie, Taylor, Dominic, Alexis, Dometrious, David, Hailee, Lillian, Kensi, Konnor, Dakota, and Karra; sisters, Ilene (Joe) Jones and Joyce Johnson; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his wife, Rhea; parents, Alfred and Daisy; brothers, Otis (Geri) Lunyou, Olen (Nadine) Lunyou, Bill Lunyou; sisters, Inez Allen McCord(Herb Allen) and Leo McCord, Donna Lunyou and brother-in-law, Jack Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4-7pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10:00am at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.valleyhillsfh.com
