Raul Ramos was not a man of many words but he was a man who knew how to love, care, and give selflessly. He was a man who loved his family and helped them any way he could. On the night of April 5, 2016, at the age of 86, he passed in his sleep peacefully at Cottage in the Meadow surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Raul Ramos was born October 1, 1929 in Denver, Colorado to Simon and Socorro Ramos.
He had four sisters, Mary Romero, Jenny Gomez, Josie Spencer, and Mercy Ramos, and one brother, Salvador Ramos. He worked as a farm laborer with his family in Denver, Colorado. He and his family then moved to Nebraska and worked in beet fields before moving to the Yakima Valley in
the 1950s where they made Wapato, Washington their permanent home.
It was then that he helped raised his nieces and nephews who were his pride and joy. He
loved his God, parents, and family dearly.
He formed a special relationship with one of his nieces, Eleanor Garza, who he lived with the last
ten years of his life. She helped care for him and did an absolutely out standing job. He helped
raise her five children, Gabriel Garza, Jason Garza, Edward Garza Jr., Angelita Garza, and Victoria Garza. He enjoyed every minute with them.
He would babysit, play, and spoil them rotten every chance he had. He taught them a little something about life in his own unique way that will carry on with them for generations to come.
Every single one of them had a special place in his heart as they also have a special place for him in theirs. He will be missed dearly by them as he is a special piece of their family who can never be
replaced, but his memory will forever be in their hearts.
Raul Ramos now gets to rest with his beloved parents Simon and Socorro Ramos, his four sisters, Mary Romero, Jenny Gomez, Josie Spencer, and Mercy Ramos, and his nephew Samuel Romero. He is survived by his niece Eleanor Garza and her husband Edward Garza and their five children,
Gabriel Garza, Jason Garza, Edward Garza Jr., Angelita Garza, and Victoria Garza. He is also
survived by his brother Salvador Ramos and his sister-in-law Lu Ann Ramos, and by his other
seven nieces and eight nephews.
