Ranney Michael Sharman 72 passed away June 16, 2016 in Yakima WA. He was born January 23, 1944 in San Francisco to Duncan (Jeff) and Eileen Sharman and grew up in Ukiah California. Ranney graduated from Bellarmine College Prep School in San Jose. He then attended and graduated from Gonzaga University. He went on later to complete his Masters of Science in Counseling/Psychology at Heritage College.
Ranney spent most of his career as a social worker for the State of Washington. Priding himself on arranging services for the elderly. He served on a number of statewide committees. After College he served in the Jesuit Volunteer Corp, teaching at Saint Mary’s Mission in Omak. Over the years he volunteered in Scouting at Church and at Mt. Rainier National Park, He was a long time volunteer with Heart Links Hospice in Sunnyside.
Ranney was a very caring individual who enjoyed travel, camping, hiking and visiting with friends and family. He enjoyed telling stories of his experiences.
Ranney is survived by his wife Kathy and their six children:Karen (Greg) and their children Ryan, Nate, Andy, and Kate. Chris (Natasha) and their children Masha, Sasha, Lesa and Anthony. Rachel (Ken) and their children Rebecca, Chris, Matt, and Daniel. Jeff (Trisha) and son Benjamin. Mary and her son Aiden and stepchildren Chance and Maddie (Greg) and their son Liam. Son Justin of Portland Oregon.
Viewing and visitation will be held 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, recital of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm Friday June 24, 2016 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday June 25, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview followed by graveside services at the Grandview Cemetery.
