Randall Beckman

Randall Scott Beckman, age 56, from Zillah, Washington passed away Monday, October 31st, 2016 at Cottage in the Meadow. Randy was born in Yakima, Washington, to Howard and Dee Beckman on January 28th, 1960. He attended Grace Lutheran Church for Kindergarten, and moved on to Stanton Elementary until February 1970, when his family moved to Buena, where he attended grade school. He finished his school years at Toppenish High School where he graduated in 1978. Randy then furthered his education at Central Washington University, graduating in 1983 with a teaching degree in physical education. After Randy graduated from college he continued his passion for education by becoming a substitute teacher. He then proceeded his career by working various jobs, before finding a home at Zillah’s Bleyhl Farm Service where he worked for 24 years. During his time at Bleyhl’s he enjoyed getting to know the members of the Zillah community and acquired many friends. Randy also took over the family farm from 2004 to 2009, after his father retired. Randy’s hobbies included fishing and all things sports. Throughout his childhood he participated in sports teams including football, basketball and baseball. He furthered this love of sports teams by becoming an assistant coach for the Toppenish High School baseball team for 2 years and becoming a referee for AAU, junior and senior high school basketball for over 20 years. Randy is survived by his mother Dee Beckman, his sister Kathy (Britt) Whipple, his two nieces, Kayla (Ethan) Tuning and Brena Whipple, his friend for many years Doyle Shaffer, and his dog Gonzo. Randy is preceded in death by his father Howard Beckman, his grandparents Gilbert and Alice Beckman, and Dean and Ruth Barnhouse. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Virginia Mason Hospital, Memorial Hospital, and Cottage in the Meadow for their exceptional care. There will be a celebration of Randy’s life December 10th, 2016 at 1 PM, Zillah Civic Center.
