Phyllis Hardin

September 14, 1925 — July 26, 2014

On July 26, 2014 Phyllis was lovingly escorted to heaven, excited to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior. Born Sept. 14, 1925 in Spokane and adopted by John and Edith Bush. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1944 and pursued a career in nursing. Due to her fathers death that dream was put on hold for a season. On Nov. 6 1948 she married M. Richard (Spud) Hardin with whom she spent 56 years until his passing in 2003. They were blessed to adopt two children- John in 1953 and Alice in 1955. Phyllis was exceptionally talented in many areas. While living in Davenport she played the piano/organ at the Presbyterian Church as well as playing at the American Legion, VFW and other local events. She also taught piano lessons to many children. When we moved to Sunnyside, Phyllis had the opportunity to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated in 1971 from YVC with an ADRN degree. She started working at the Sunnyside Hospital in surgery and emergency. In 1976 mom and dad moved to Yakima where her career as a nurse continued. She was also active in the American Legion as well as working as a clothing and textile judge at the Yakima County Fair. Phyllis is survived by her son John and daughter Alice. She has two grandsons Jacob, (Melissa) Hardin and Zachary Hardin as well as three great-grandchildren, Rayna, Logan, and Callie. To hear the rest of Phyllis’s story please join us at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Terrace Heights, 2600 Business lane. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima is in care of her arrangements. Online tributes can be shared at www.valleyhillsfh.com. John and I would like to thank everyone who was a part of mom’s life. We know you brought her great joy as well as lovingly cared for her when she was ill. Thank you for giving generously to our mom.
