Pearlene Wagner

Pearlene Mary (Stewart) Wagner, 80, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2016. She was born to Charles and Elizabeth Stewart on December 1, 1935. She grew up living in Spokane and Yakima, WA. Pearlene’s father worked for the Pacific Railroad. She attended school both in Spokane and Yakima. She attended high school at Davis Highschool in Yakima, WA. Pearlene attended First Church of God on 11th and Chestnut. Leonard and Pearlene were married in that church in September 1954 and attended services there for many years. Pearlene and Leonard would spend holidays and Saturdays hiking in the High Lakes; fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. But, they had to be back to town by Sunday because they wouldn’t miss church. Pearlene was a Sunday school teacher and she and Leonard would pick up children for church. Later they attended the Nazarene Church in Yakima. Pearlene enjoyed reading her Bible and good books. She loved embroidering pillowcases and doilies, which she gave as gifts. She also loved telling and reading stories to children, many of which called her and Leonard Grandma and Grandpa. Pearlene is survived by her brother, Thomas E. Stewart of Yakima, WA, 11 nieces, 3 nephews, and a host of family and friends. Pearlene is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wagner; mother, Elizabeth Heneritta Vonder Heyden Stewart; father, Charles Edward Stewart; brothers: George, Al and Bill; sisters: Opal and Thelma; and nephew, Wendell Guy Stewart. The Wagner and Stewart families would like to thank the staff at Crescent Healthcare for all the loving care they gave Pearlene. Graveside Service will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima, WA.
