Paul Michael “Mike” Desmarais, February 17, 1941 to March 15, 2025
The sun set one final time for Paul Michael Desmarais on Saturday, March 15 th , at the age of 84.
He was surrounded by loved ones, including his wife of 60 years, as he fearlessly and with great
resolve traversed into the great unknown.
Mike was a man of many enduring traits. He was dedicated, strong willed, reliable, and firm in
his convictions. He showed his dedication through service to his country aboard the USS Hector
while serving in the Navy from 1959-1963. He was a volunteer firefighter in the city of Mabton
for over 20 years. A successful entrepreneur, Mike owned and operated a machine shop
starting in the early 80s where he could always be found and counted on to find a solution to
anyone’s problems. He farmed and was known to be a jack of all trades. Never at a loss for
words, and seldom in doubt, Mike could serve up slices of humble pie with ease. “Have the day
that you deserve” was a common farewell phrase for him.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling the world in his early years. Later
in life moments spent with his family became his favorite past time. He was a loving husband,
father, and grandfather.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Sue, and parents Paul and Marie. Mike is survived
by his wife Virginia, sons Michael, Henry, Raymond (Jamie), and Josh (Liza), and 10
grandchildren.
Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements.
