Orba Hudson

November 26, 1914 — January 4, 2014

Orba “Bud” Woodrow Hudson was born November 26, 1914 in Parthenon, Arkansas and passed away January 4, 2014 in Yakima, Washington. Bud was the oldest of 11 children and was always there for his family. When he would get together with his brothers and sisters the stories they would tell would go on for hours. He was a hard working man who logged with mules, drove truck and owned a gas station/grocery/garage. He also taught welding (mostly to women) on ships during WWII, worked as a master mechanic and farmed in the lower Yakima Valley for many years. He met Dorothy May Chipman while living in Sandpoint, Idaho, and drew her into the boisterous Hudson Clan. They were married for 67 years before she passed away in August 2006. Bud is survived by his daughter, Betty Hamilton of Wapato, two sons, Wayne Hudson and Jerry Hudson (Cindee) both of Yakima, and three sisters. He also leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren with whom he loved to “clap, stomp and sing”. The family would like to thank Betty for her devoted, tireless and loving care of Dad over the years. Thank you, also, to the staff at Chandler House for their loving care of dad for the past 15 months. There will be a get-together for the immediate family at a later date.
