Obituary

Olivia Jane Martinez, 38, of Yakima, Washington, passed away on June 8, 2026. She

was born in Billings, Montana, and grew up in Toppenish, Washington. She was the

cherished daughter of Donald Peters and Patricia Aguirre.

Olivia graduated from Toppenish High School before pursuing her passion for higher

education. She earned an Associate of Arts from Bellevue Community College, a

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Human Resources from

Washington State University, and a Master of Organizational Leadership from Eastern

Washington University. Driven and ambitious, she was also working toward her Masters

of Law from UCLA. Olivia built a meaningful career with the Yakima School District,

where her dedication took her from a human resources receptionist and application

specialist to a Human Resources Program Manager.

Outside of her professional achievements, Olivia loved reading, puzzles, watching

movies, and camping. Above all, she treasured doing these activities with her family.

Olivia will be remembered for her deep love and fierce dedication to her family, as well

as her profound kindness to everyone she met. With her warmth and infectious smile,

she could effortlessly turn a stranger into a friend. She was an incredible mother who

loved her children beyond measure.

Olivia was preceded in death by her beloved son, Landon Jair Martinez; her stepfather,

Edward Sullivan; her grandparents, Olivia Aguirre, Roberto Aguirre, and Donald Peters;

her uncle, Jose Aguirre; her aunt, Patricia Aguirre; Uncle Robert Salinas; her cousin,

Stephen Paul Reid; and her beloved dog, Boston.

She is survived by her spouse, Carlos Martinez, and their children, Nayeli Elizabeth,

Atticus Paul, Dante Manolo, and Illidan James. She also leaves behind her parents,

Donald Peters and Patricia Aguirre; her siblings, Victoria (Bernardo) Flores, Donald

(Erica) Peters, Mario Peters, and Patrick Peters; her newest dog, Caliope; and a large

extended family of loving friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Valley Hills

Funeral Home & Crematory, 2600 Business Ln, Yakima, WA 98901. Interment will follow

at Calvary Cemetery.
