O. Harold Race, 92, passed away Dec. 21, 2018 with loving friends and family by his side.
Harold was born on April 21, 1926 in Baker, Montana, to Thaddeus and Margaret Alice Race. As a child, he lived in rural Ekalaka, Montana, with his nine brothers and sisters. His family moved to the Wenas Valley when he was ten, and he graduated from Naches High School in 1945. After proudly serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he married Fern Long, and the couple settled in Yakima. Harold and his loving wife Fern were married 61 years, and raised a son and daughter.
Harold tested a few occupations following the war, choosing to become a Realtor in the early 1960’s. He started in residential and later specialized in commercial real estate. He was a member of the Yakima, Washington State, and National Associations of Realtors for many decades. The choice suited him perfectly, and he was very proud of his long and successful career as a Commercial Realtor.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fern, and eight siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Rita Race and husband, Mark Lawler, of Sedona, AZ; his son, Rodney Race of Yakima; his sister, Ruth Meadors of Pearland, TX; his grandson, Brian Race of Moxee; three great-grandchildren; and his devoted dear friends, Sheree and Tad Tsubota of Yakima.5
