Norman Swan

July 2, 1952 — February 24, 2023

Norman Thomas Swan “Tom” was born on July 2, 1952, in Toppenish, Washington and passed away on February 24, 2023, at MultiCare Memorial in Yakima, Washington.  Tom was a member of the Yakama Nation and spent a majority of his life on the Yakama Reservation. Tom graduated from White Swan in 1970.  Tom was in the last round of draftees and served in the Army for two years with a specialty in Defense Artillery.  Tom spent many years working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Forestry and finished his last 14 years as the Yakama Nation Appraisal’s Program Manager. Tom was a loving husband, wonderful papa, father, uncle and brother.  He loved celebrating holidays, going to the mountains, taking pictures, tending to his beautiful garden, cheering on the White Swan Cougars, Washington Huskies, Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Seattle Seahawks. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Anita Swan; daughters, Sarah Patterson, Lynn Swan, Sissy Tsoodle (Willie); son Thomas Swan; brothers, John Swan (Ellen), Nick Swan (Donna); grandchildren, Kaiden Swan, Michael Patterson II, Miriam Patterson, Almarae Zuniga (Johnny), Teresa Dittentholer, Amie Dittentholer (Will), Erica Dorais (Kyle), William Hunter Dittentholer, Summer Dittentholer; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.  Tom is preceded in death by his parents John L Swan and Charlotte Swan; brothers Timothy Swan and Paul Swan; son James Tsoodle. Rosary/Viewing 2/28/23 Valley Hills Funeral Home. Funeral will be 3/1/23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church White Swan, WA.
