Nila June Parks, 76, of Yakima, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 24, 2015. Nila was born in Yakima, WA, on November 25, 1939 to Roland & Amelia Grove. Nila was the youngest of five children. She attended Yakima High School, after school married at the age of 18. Out of that union came her eldest child, Benita, and her son, Kevin. At the age of 29, she married James Parks, together they had Leslie. Nila worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, retiring from Bamboo Terrace in 2001. Nila enjoyed traveling, crafts, bingo, and visiting various casinos. She loved spending time with family and friends as often as possible. Nila was truly a people person. All that knew her loved her. She is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter, Benita (Jim) Thielman, son, Kevin (Lisa) Manz, daughter, Leslie Skinner, and brother, Elden Grove. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tabetha (Richard) Justo, Bryan Thielman, Kissenda (Lucas) Causey, Erick Vestal, Jennifer (Kyle) Hopkins, Kyle Weigand, Kolten Manz (Fiance Courtney Franz), Nicole Manz, Justin Skinner, Tayla Skinner, and great grandchildren, Khloe Causey, Regan Vestal, Layne Hopkins, Cody Hopkins, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roland & Ameila, and infant sister, Loretta, and sister, Arlene Schroader, and brother, Raymond Grove. Visitation is planned for Tuesday, January 5th from 2-7PM and the Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, January 6th at 11:00AM, both at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. Private burial will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
