Nicholas Martinez

Nicolas W.B. Martinez, 28, a Yakama Nation tribal member was called home on July 12, 2016. His Indian name was “Telling Stories by the Water”. He grew up in White Swan, WA and lived with his grandparents Marvin Sr. and Delilah Martinez most of his life. He worked various jobs through his young life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Loved to be in the mountains, beading , hanging out with family and friends. He went to Yakama Nation Tribal School and later attended Cascade Job Corps in Sedro Wooley, WA where he received his GED. He also participated in wild horse races. Nicholas always made sure YOU knew he loved you. Through his adventures in life he met numerous friends. Loved to travel to Neah Bay, WA, Warm Springs, OR and Montana to see his family and friends. He is survived by his parents Marvin Jr.(Lisa) Martinez and Valerie(Wayne) Smartlowit; his brothers, Marvin Martinez III, Kevin Smartlowit, Kurtis(Kailee) Smartlowit, Kyle(Sharice) Smartlowit, Leo Martinez, and L.J.(Sherrai) Sam; sisters, Wilma(Kevin) Martinez, Tee XAKSH Martinez, Faith Martinez, Tasheena Sam and Camille Martinez; grandparents, Marvin Sr. and Delilah Martinez, Raymond and Sybill Smartlowit, Allie Queahpama, CledaQueahpama, Patsy Randall, Fidelia Andy. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lo’Quisu Martines, Roy Tahmawash, Benny Martinez Sr.; maternal great grandparents, Albert C. Brown and Wilma Randall; great grandparents, Ted and Nettie Moses Thomas and Nina Woods Randall; and paternal great grandmother, Helen Cussa Nypier. Dressing service will be at 10:00 at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse with overnight services. Burial will be sunrise Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Toppenish Creek Cemetery.
