Nancy Edith Gavin, 76, of Yakima, WA, passed away unexpectedly on December 29th, 2024, at her home.
Nancy was born to Ronald and Elizabeth Scott on July 7th, 1948, in Portland, OR. She was best known for her extraordinary sewing, knitting, and cross-stitch skills. Her greatest love was quilting, a hobby she shared with her wonderful friends. She touched many lives, gifting her handmade items to those close to her and strangers.
She grew up in Sonoma, CA, and attended Chico State, where she obtained her nursing degree. One day, she was invited to a dance, where she met a guy named Tim. At what she thought was the end of the evening, Tim told everyone else they could leave, but Nancy had to stay. That night, they started a relationship that resulted in a 51-year marriage.
Nancy dedicated several years of her life as a neonatal intensive care nurse, where her natural gift for medicine and tender care earned her the affectionate title of "Nurse Nancy." Later, her love for connection and family led her to become the cherished keeper of our genealogical treasures. She poured her heart into documenting our family history, preserving our roots and stories for generations. We will forever hold deep gratitude for the love and time she devoted to weaving the tapestry of our family's legacy.
She is survived by her sister Beth Richards (Bruce), son Warren Scott Gavin (Amanda), grandsons James Owen Gavin and Wyatt Timothy Gavin, and daughter Elizabeth Ann DeLong (James). She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Gavin, and her brother, Peter Scott (Judy).
Nancy chose not to have a service in her memory; therefore, please consider donating to the American Red Cross for Disaster Relief.
