Nancy Carol Buitenbos, 73, passed away June 3, 2017 at Yakima Regional Hospital following complications after heart surgery.
Born in Yakima, Nancy was the daughter of Leroy and Mildred Hill. Nancy grew up in Gleed graduating from Naches High School in 1962. She met her husband Roger in Sunnyside and they married on September 18, 1965. They resided in Sunnyside where Nancy worked as a housekeeper for Sunnyside General before starting her business, Nails for you in 1988. After moving to Yakima in 1990, Nancy continued to work as a nail artist from home until retiring in 2007. Through the years as a manicurist her clients became friends, creating many special memories together.
In her early years Nancy enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles and taking vacations with her family and friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and making the neighborhood girls matching outfits. She entertained their pinochle group where you were sure to find good friends and a few pranks in progress.
Nancy’s love of hosting parties was obvious to anyone who attended her frequent get-togethers. No matter the occasion, you could see the love and effort that she put into every single dish she prepared, in her beautiful and abundant decorations, in the drinks that she poured and in the smiles on the faces of her family and friends. Whether it was arranging Easter egg hunts, making popcorn balls for Halloween, serving up delicious fried oysters or arranging overflowing trays for friends and family for her favorite holiday, Christmas, Nancy’s generous spirit always shone brightest during the holidays.
Over the last two years her love for taking care of and spoiling her granddaughter brought her endless hours of joy and giggles.
Nancy leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Roger Buitenbos; her daughter, Nikola Rae Buitenbos (Tom); the love of her life and only grandchild, Natalie Elaine; her brothers and sisters: Dennis (Leila) Hill of Portland, Beverly Mull of Vancouver, Glenda Worrell of Yakima, David (Mary Jo) hill of Vancouver, Richard Hill of the Dalles, Kelli (Don) Garbe of Naches; her aunt Diane (Lloyd) Lovelace of Olympia, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
A reception will be held in Nancy’s honor on Friday, June 23rd at the Silver Lake Winery in Zillah from 2 pm- 4 pm.
