Nadine Blanchard

Sunday, April 8, 2019, Mrs. Nadine L. Blanchard was released from her earthly body of 89 years to a heavenly home prepared for her by the Lord Jesus Christ. Born in Harlan, Iowa, to Orlo and Frances (Born) Hopkins, the 3rd of 4 children. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1932 where Nadine finished her education with graduation from Yakima High School in 1948. Nadine worked for the telephone company before meeting Roy Blanchard who became her husband August 20, 1949, they were married 63 years. Nadine and Roy raised 5 boys: Larry, Mark, Don, Lonnie and John. She was a seamstress, quilter, porcelain doll maker, painted many prized ceramic pieces which she gifted to many family members. She enjoyed entertaining and having the whole family together for dinners. The special Rice Crispy “Scotches” were one of her many sweet treats baked during the holidays, and there was always a cookie in the cookie jar at Nadine’s home. The grandchildren fondly remember the pre-Halloween bon fire parties when grandma served up HUGE M&M Monster cookies and hot chocolate. Nadine is survived by her 5 sons and their wives: Larry and Susie Blanchard of Medford, OR, Mark and Sheryl Blanchard, Don and Margie Blanchard, John and Tracy Blanchard all of Yakima, and Lonnie and Delrae Blanchard of Naches, WA; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Roy Blanchard, grandson Aaron Blanchard, sister Dexter Sauve, and brothers Frank and Jack Hopkins. Deepest gratitude to the care-givers and staff at Summitview Healthcare Center, you’ve been a comfort and blessing to Nadine and the entire family these past few months.
