Myra Earl

January 10, 1939 — April 26, 2014

Myra Faye Mortensen Earl was born on January 10, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, in her own home after a battle with cancer on April 26, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Robert and their three sons Wayne, John and Steven; their daughter-in-laws Judy, Taressa and Annie; and 12 grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Taylor. Myra Faye married Robert Earl on August 3, 1959. She left her family in Chicago and moved to Toppenish where they resided for 30 years, raising their three sons and supporting Robert’s farming operation. They moved to Zillah in 1989. She and Robert have been married for 54 years and have been inspiring examples of the importance of making family and marriage a priority. Myra Faye had many passions in her life but music, family, service and her faith were her priorities. She was a talented musician and played the piano and organ regularly for many occasions and organizations. Her smile, sense of humor and laughter blessed those around her and were contagious. Optimism and belief in God-inspired human potential shaped her view of life and people. She loved her family and found great joy in being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her capacity to love knew no bounds. Above all, she lived as a devout Christian that trusted in God, loved to serve others and did not hesitate to stand for her beliefs. She and Robert served weekly for many years as volunteers in the Columbia River Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. They also served as missionaries relocating to Salt Lake City, Utah for 18 months while serving as Public Affairs assistants and were thrilled to be there during the 2002 Winter Olympics. During her 54 years of marriage Myra Faye fell in love with the Yakima Valley. She was an active booster and fan at Toppenish High School where her sons played in the band and competed in basketball and football. Her legacy includes secretly painting innumerable paw prints and inspirations supporting school teams. She was very active in her church and loved to read, paint, travel, stay abreast on politics, and had a deep appreciation for our country, its founders and its veterans.
