Mona Bowman

YAKIMA - Mona Sue Bowman, age 71, passed away March 27, 2014 at Cottage in the Meadow. She was born on October 27, 1942 in Fort Smith, AR to William and Ruby (Hawkins) Bowman. She received her Associates Degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A.M. College. She served in the Army as a medic and surgical nurse during the Vietnam War. She worked at the U.S. Postal Service as a sorter clerk in the Yakima branch and then the Selah branch. She was active in her community as a cancer volunteer; visiting with friends and families. She enjoyed going to yard sales and was always willing to help with a warm and caring heart. She is preceded in death by her mother and father and her longtime best friend Tangi Nelsen. She is survived by her brother, William Bowman of Tulsa, OK, her sisters, Pat (Terry) Burger of St. Maries, ID, Shanelle Surgner-Nelsen of Yakima, her niece D. Michelle Burger of Seattle, WA, and her nephew Milo Bowman of Texas. Mona will be missed by all that knew her but we know that she is now a guardian angel among us.
