Minnie Day

June 17, 1929 — April 6, 2025

Minnie L. Day was nearly 96 years old when she went to sleep in the Lord on April 6, 2025, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Minnie arrived into this world June 17, 1929, in Hurdsfield, North Dakota to Otto and Rose Weippert. The middle child of nine – Bill, Esther, Helen, Art, Minnie, Bernice, Verna, Irene, Violet. Her childhood took her from North Dakota to Montana and then to Toppenish where she met and married Howard Day on October 14, 1945. Minnie worked in agriculture for many years prior to joining Del Monte at the Toppenish cannery. Both Minnie and Howard retired in 1978 but continued farming the homestead concord grapes until 1990 when they moved to Selah. After Howard passed, she moved to Yakima and then in 2010 she moved to Tri-Cities She was a member of the Kennewick Seventh Day Adventist Church. Minnie is survived by her sons Stephen Mark, Ronald Allen, and Dicke Jum; three granddaughters Suzanne Ramirez, Katie Kjeldgaard, and Shannon Jannssen; two grandsons Robert and Anthony; her sister Violet Dennis; and many beloved great granddaughters, great grandsons, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Day, her son Tommy Glen, and her seven other siblings. There is a memorial service at the Kennewick Seventh Day Adventist Church, 7105 W. 10th Avenue, Kennewick WA, on May 9th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Kennewick Seventh Day Adventist Church or Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.
