Mina Beth Halbert passed away March 5, 2017 at the age of 94 at Landmark Care and Rehabilitation Facility. Yakima, WA. Heartlinks Hospice Care, Sunnyside, WA, assisted with her care while a resident there. She was born in Glendale, CA to Leslie Bernard and Mabel Helen (Allan) Mann on March 23, 1922. Several years later the family moved to Granger, WA. In 1927 her mother married Elmer Thrush a local farmer. Mina Beth graduated from Granger High School in 1940. Then attended Yakima College where she began nurses training. She married Walter Russell Cadman, who had just returned from serving in the South Pacific, in San Francisco, CA in 1944. At the end of the war they moved to Seattle, WA. They had two sons Walter Richard (Rick) and Russell O. (ROC) Cadman. Mina Beth and Russ worked for Boeing. The family moved to a ranch in Enumclaw, WA in 1958. Mina Beth and Russ divorced. She and the boys moved to California. In 1965 Mina Beth married N.B. (Hal) Halbert, in Whittier, CA. Over the next thirty years she and Hal lived in Whittier, CA; Dallas, Texas; Rogers, Arkansas; San Diego, California; and Sun City, CA. During these years, Mina Beth worked as an EEG and EKG technician in local hospitals. Upon Hal's death, Mina Beth moved to Zillah, WA where she lived until moving into the Sun Tower Senior Living in Yakima, WA. Mina Beth joined the Zillah Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1999. She continued to attend the Church in Zillah after she moved to Yakima. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, two husbands, and son Dr. Russell Cadman. Mina Beth is survived by her son Rick (Nancy) Cadman, CA; 5 grandsons: Michael Cadman, VA, Zachary and Benjamin Cadman, WA, Christopher and Gregory Cadman, CA; 8 great grandchildren, as well as step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Mina Beth worked her entire adult life in many different occupations. She was energetic, socially engaged, a fighter and held a strong work ethic that carried her through many difficult times and led to her working into her 80's. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. A favorite pastime was baking cookies for church dinners, crocheting baby blankets and afghans. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday March 18, 2017 at the Zillah Community Church of Seventh Day Adventists (202 5th St., Zillah). Private burial will be at Zillah Cemetery.
