Mildred Oord

Our Mother and Grandma, Mildred Irene Oord passed away December 28, 2020, into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will always be remembered for her quick wit and humor. She loved and spent many years doing volunteer work for the Union Gospel Mission and Safe Harbor. She enjoyed young children and was a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. Mildred met Jasper in Yakima on a blind date set up by Dorothy and Jake his brother. They were married June 12, 1947 in the Orchardvale Grange outside of Zillah. They started their family in Zillah and moved to Kennewick in 1960. They had five children, Geraldine, Melinda, Ray, Carl, and Doug. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Jasper Oord and grandson Timothy Oord. Mildred is survived by her brother Richard Rettig of Yakima; daughters Geraldine (Dennis) Frimodt and Melinda Skinnell; sons Ray (Vickie), Carl and Doug (Shelli) along with 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Chaplaincy Health Care (Hospice). A viewing will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Valley Hills Funeral Home (607 2nd Ave, Zillah, WA 98953) from 10am - 12:30pm, a graveside service will follow at 1pm at the Zillah Cemetery.
