Our Heavenly Father took an extraordinary person home. Michael A. Roman, Sr., who all lovingly knew
as Mike and Spider, was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Mike gained his
wings on Thursday, September 22, 2022. His smile and laughter spread miles throughout our
community, homes, and our hearts.
Mike was born August 8, 1963, in Sunnyside, Washington, to the late Jose C. Roman, Jr. and Andrea
Roman. Mike was a class of 1981 graduate from Sunnyside High School and stayed a Sunnyside resident
throughout his life. Mike briefly attended college at YVCC; however, his ultimate passion was being a
mechanic. His hard-working hands served for 38 years between Independent Foods and Seneca as a
mechanic and cook room supervisor.
As destiny made its way, Mike met the love of his life, Jenny, in 1990. Mike and Jenny married in 1992
and remained inseparable until his last day on Earth. They shared over 30 years of planting their roots in
Sunnyside. In 1993 came their first bundle of joy – Michael Roman, Jr. After Mikey came Clarissa in
1996. After Rissa, they welcomed their fur baby Chico in 2010. Mike’s purpose in life was loving his
family, to which he dedicated his entire life.
Mike enjoyed life so much. He loved comic books, played softball throughout his life, and was a die-hard
fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Chicago Bulls. Sundays were family days where it was
gameday in the house with the Seahawks or pay-per-view watching WWE.
Most notably, Mike enjoyed the unforgettable barbecue get-togethers and being a pit master. For years,
Mike perfected his grilled chicken, which, if you ever attended a barbecue at Mike and Jenny’s, you
knew about the chicken. Mike’s heart of gold, glorious smile, and laughter that lit up the room will
sorely be missed but will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Jenny, his children, Mikey and Rissa, and his furbaby Chico. Along with his
immediate family, he is also survived by his mother, Andrea Roman, brother Andres Roman, sister
Maria (Frank) Canales, along with numerous family members. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose
C. Roman, Jr., brother Fred Roman, and his grandparents.
