Melinda Comfort

Melinda Comfort (56) of Yakima, WA passed away on March 17, 2015, at Cottage In The Meadow. Mel (Melinda) was born on November 15, 1958 in Wichita, KS, to William and Sally (Crockett) Comfort. Mel (Melinda) attended Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, WA. She continued her education at Central Washington University, and then continued on to Western Oregon University where she received her Master’s Degree in Juvenile Justice. For many years, Mel (Melinda) worked as a caring social worker for the Department of Health and Human Services. Mel (Melinda) greatly enjoyed biking, hiking, jogging, cross country snow-skiing, partaking in half- marathons and, most of all, the “Lilac Bloomsday Run” every May in Spokane, WA. She also enjoyed spending time with her two dogs, Ricky and Josie, and three cats Sophie, Wiley and Sammy. She regularly attended United Christian Church. Mel (Melinda) is survived by her loving companion William Peckman Sr; her mother Sally Comfort (Poulsbo, WA) her brothers and spouses, Bill and Sherri Comfort (Custer, SD); Rick and Joan Comfort (Sedona, AZ); sister Pam Comfort (Bremerton, WA) and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Comfort. Melinda will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 25th 2015 2:00PM at United Christian Church (317 S 41st St., Yakima, WA 98901).
