On April 5, 2017, Maxine T. Eldred of Yakima passed peacefully at the age of 92 even though she led everyone to believe that she was only 27 years old for the last 50+ years of her life. Maxine was born on September 8, 1924 and raised in Bickleton, WA. She married George Burton (Burt) Eldred on August 24, 1947. She had an illustrious career in the shipyards during World War II, followed by work as a retail sales clerk and dental hygienist.
Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her friends and family. As an active member and volunteer of Grace of Christ Presbyterian in Yakima, she was involved in various church activities as well as the church’s Prayer Circle. She was an avid tennis player and was enthusiastically involved in Garden Club and Women’s Aglow. With a strong interest in natural medicine, she was quick to thrust sludgy green drinks at her family members long before they were popular. She was involved in multiple natural product companies and was a distributor for Shaklee and Young Living essential oils.
She is survived by her children Curtis Eldred of Yakima, Douglas Eldred of Yakima, Charlene and Brad Graham of Yelm, and Melinda and Tim Temple of Yakima. She also has 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt, as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church in Yakima, WA on April 21st at 1:00 PM. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Grace of Christ Presbyterian and those that cared for her at Cottage in the Meadow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Grace of Christ or Cottage in the Meadow.
