In Loving Memory of Maximino Saldana Sr. August 3rd, 1959 - February 10th, 2024 With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a husband, a beloved father, a grandfather, a brother, an esteemed coach, and servant of the lord. He departed from this world on February 10th 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, guidance, and faith. As a husband, Max built a life with Elva Salinas. They married at a very you age, he 15, her 16. They shared a life together of marriage for 48 years. Their journey started together in Seattle, Washington later laying roots in Sunnyside. There they raised three children Maximino Jr, Melanie, and Melissa. Elva and Max shared many adventures together. They enjoyed listening to tejano music, dancing, and spending time with one another. Max adored the life he built Elva and loved her deeply. As a father, Max exemplified unwavering support, boundless love, and steadfast encouragement. His wisdom, kindness, and strength nurtured not only his family but also countless individuals who were fortunate enough to cross his path. He not only raised his three children but was also a father to many others. As a grandfather, he learned patience, understanding, and adoration for his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them supporting their activities. Often times, the loudest supporter at their events. He was proud to be a grandfather and this made his life complete. He also grandfathered many others who god placed in his life. As a brother, Max provided a voice for his family. He was one of 24 children, the middle child of the group. Growing up there were many sacrifices his family had to make for being such a large family. His parents were Martin Sr and Rosa Saldana. His greatest pride was his last name “Saldana”. Although a loud voice, he spoke the loudest through his actions. He deeply loved all of his brothers and sisters. As a Tio (uncle), Max took on a role as an extended father figure. Showing discipline, compassion, and love for those who needed it most. He was a Tio to over 100 nieces and nephews. He reminded each of them the importance of respect, humility, and love for one another. He was proud to be their Tio Max. As a coach, Max inspired countless athletes and coaches to strive for excellence, teaching them the value of discipline, teamwork, and resilience both on and off the field. His dedication to mentorship extended far beyond the football field, instilling in his players the importance of character, integrity, and sportsmanship. As a servant of the lord, Max served as a beacon of hope and guidance for his community. His unwavering faith, compassion, and commitment to service touched the lives of many, providing solace and spiritual guidance in times of need. Though he may no longer walk among us, Max’s legacy of love, compassion, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. He is survived by Elva Saldana, Maximino (Lucia) Saldana Jr, Melanie (Tony) Castilleja, Melissa (Eddie) Rodriguez, his grand children; Kayla, Eddie Jr, Alexandria, Noah, Alicia, Lorenzo, Anthony, Anna Bella, Makayla, Maudie, Melissa, Isabella, Marley, Hendrix, Jose, Miguel, the Saldana family; Martin, Maggie, Mary, Mario, Mickey, Martha, Minerva, Marcos, Marsiano, Benjamin, Modesto, Majin, Margarito, Emma, Moses, Magdalena, nieces and nephews, his players and coaches who will cherish his memory and carry forward his teachings with love and reverence. May his soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the divine. Funeral services will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home - 555 Franklin Ct Sunnyside, WA 98944, February 22nd, 2024.
