Mavis George Kindness was born at Rockcreek to Gus George and Ida Billy September 14, 1942. She was called home March 16, 2019. She went to school at Good Noe Hills, Wa. Later on she went to Chicago to become a beautician. Her younger years she enjoyed fishing, hunting root digging, and huckleberry picking. She was a strong believer in the Longhouse religion, Shaker Church and medicine dance. She also had started the language program with the Yakama Nation. Later she served as a judge and Vice Chairwoman for the Yakama Nation General Council. She enjoyed going to Pow-wows, traveling, laughing, joking and mostly being with family.
She is survived by one brother, Randy George; bro's, Francis George and Eddie George; three daughters, Ernestine Morning Owl, Mavis "Boots" Nelson, and Kelly Kindness; two sons, Tyrone Kindness and Patrick Kindness; her grandchildren, Damien Totus, Marylee Totus, WIlliam Totus, Andrew Kindness, Edwina Morning Owl, Ernest Morning, Dale Kindness, Valentina Varela, Gabe Kindness, Crystal Kindness, Marilyn Kindness, Joe Vargas, Josh Vargas, Jacob Vargas and Eugene Kindess.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Levi George, Victor George, Buster George; sisters, Wenita George Miller, Florence Charlie, Isabelle George, Vivian George Smartlowit, Mabel Shike and Numerous family members.
Dressing services were held at 9:00am Monday March 18, 2019 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Overnight services were held at the Rock Creek Longhouse and burial will be at Sunrise at the Black Wolf Cemetery. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah, is handling arrangements.
