Mauro Laya, 74, died on April 20, 2017 at his home in Union Gap, Washington, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12, 1942 in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Silveria and Victorino Laya. He married the love of his life, Sabina Alew on March 14, 1970 and had 4 children.
Mauro is survived by his wife Sabina, daughters – Mercy and Marissa, sons – Ramil (Myra) and Jessie (Danna), grandchildren – Bryce, Samantha, Naven, David, and Ivan. He is also survived by his sister Rosita and brother Victorino.
The family would like to thank the Memorial Hospice Team for the great service on Mauro’s last few months. A special thanks to all friends and family who graciously extended their time and support in our time of loss.
A viewing and Rosary will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Terrace Heights (2600 Business Lane, Yakima) from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Cathedral Chapel (15 S. 12th Ave., Yakima) on Saturday, April 29, 2017 followed by burial services at Calvary Cemetery (1405 S. 24th Ave, Yakima). There will be a reception following the services at World Bistro Asian Buffet. (2616 W. Knob Hill Blvd, Yakima).
