Marylou Chavez

April 13, 1948 — May 19, 2017

Marylou (Knoeb) Chavez went to be with our creator on May 19, 2017. She was born to Roy and Rita Knoeb on April 13, 1948 in Toppenish, WA, where she was raised. She attended Toppenish High School and worked various jobs. She later had her 3 older children, Abilio “Hoss” Rocha III, Rita (Rocha) Gonzalez and Sonya Rocha. Marylou then met her husband Salvador Chavez and were married in August 1979. They had a daughter, Jessica Chavez. Together they worked hard to raise their children. Marylou was a great woman with a very big heart. She would help anyone in need no matter the circumstances. She loved cooking, BBQ’s, going to the movies and going out to eat. What she loved the most was having all her kids, grandkids, and family with her. Mum affected each and every one of us in a positive way. There was never a time when you would go see mom and she didn’t have something delicious in the kitchen to eat. She will be deeply missed. Marylou is survived by her husband of 38 years, Salvador Chavez; her mother, Rita Knoeb; her 3 daughters, Rita (Jaime) Gonzalez of Zillah, Sonya Rocha of Woodland, CA, and Jessica Chavez of Toppenish; her sisters, Virginia Ashby, Susie (Martin) Estrada, Jeannie (Donald) Espinoza, Nellie Ozuna all of Wapato, Rosie Corona of Toppenish; one brother, Roy Knoeb Jr. of Yakima; ten grandkids, Nicole Rocha(Andy Torres) who mom raised as her own, Abilio Rocha IV, Patricia Reyes (Ramiro Gonzalez), Gregorio (Eva) Diaz Jr., Jose Avila, Jaime Gonzalez Jr., Leslie Gonzalez, Jose Manuel Mariscal, Vanessa Mariscal, Kharmin Fadness, 11 great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Knob Sr.; son, Abilio “Hoss” Rocha III; and both paternal and maternal grandparents. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm with recitation of the rosary at 6pm on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish. Burial will follow in the Toppenish Elmwood Cemetery.
