Maryalice Redfield

March 5, 1919 — December 7, 2016

Maryalice Redfield was born March 5, 1919 to Mason R. Pointer and Mable B. (Banister) Pointer in Colfax, WA. She had one brother, Merl (Bud) Pointer. Maryalice died at age 97 on December 7, 2016 in Yakima, WA at Crescent Health Care. She married Robert Krause early on in life following high school years. From their union came one son, Bobby Krause. She was a dedicated mother to her son; working at Kennel Ellis Portrait Studio tinting portraits so she could be home with him. Tinting pictures later became a part time job when she took on fulltime work at Walstons brokerage firm (later Smith Barney). Maryalice somehow always found time to keep up correspondence with many friends as well as family and worldwide penpals. Everyone was familiar with a symbolic artistic swan that always shared her signature. As her son neared completion of high school, Maryalice found her soulmate when she met and married Jack A. Redfield in December 1956. She moved into their country home in Selah where they raised cows, chickens and did gardening. Bicycling was a fun activity following retirement and they were early supporters of the Yakima Greenway. Maryalice also enjoyed square dancing, roller skating, antiquing and camping out. She was a longtime member of the Selah United Methodist Church. Maryalice knew no stranger. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Cookie (Ken) Irvine; granddaughters: Debbie Bjorklund and Linda (Jeff) Choyce; grandson Jason Krause and numerous great and great great grandchildren. Maryalice loved her family and family gatherings and will be missed by all. We wish to thank Maryalice’s many caregivers at Crescent Health Care. Maryalice is predeceased by her parents, brother, husband Jack Redfield, son Bobby Krause, stepson Michael Redfield, grandson Jesse Krause, granddaughter Sybil (Krause) Mendosa and 3 great grandsons. There will be no funeral service. Interment will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
