Mary Elizabeth Weijohn passed away December 15, 2018 at home. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She was born on April 13, 1935 in Wenatchee WA to John & Thelma Sutton. Mary grew up with five brothers and a sister in the Wenatchee/Cashmere area. She attended high school at Upper Columbia Academy and graduated in 1954. While in high school she met her husband, Bud Weijohn. Their 63-year marriage began in 1955. Together they farmed in the Wapato/Harrah area. Vicky joined their family in 1956, followed by Mitzi in 1958, and Jeff in 1961. After raising their children Mary became bookkeeper and apple crew chief for their farm. Mary loved to cook and have people over for dinner, her hospitality was legendary. She was very precise & if her work wasn’t flawless she would start over. In 1987 she began having health symptoms that were eventually diagnosed as Parkinson’s disease. Her strong faith in God as a Seventh-Day Adventist allowed her to persistently pursue her passions in spite of her symptoms. Her example was a consistent witness of overcoming difficulty. She and Bud traveled to the Southwest several winters, had many travel adventures and made precious friends along the way. Despite eventually being confined to her wheelchair she found ways to cook amazing meals, keep her house well organized, and maintain a beautiful garden. Even though she had shaking hands and slow movements she made quilts for each of her grandchildren before she died. Each quilt she made was both personal and beautiful. She leaves behind her husband, Bud Weijohn, Children: Vicky (Jeff) Gabel, Mitzi (Doug) Eichner, and Jeff (Terri) Weijohn, brothers: Dick Sutton, George Sutton, Bob Sutton and Keith Sutton; Grandchildren: Laura (Mike) Bowden, Jennifer (Brian) Hardin, Charles (Ricky) Gabel, Jerrod (Jennifer) Gabel, Hailu (Clair) Gabriel, Bob (Priscilla) Gabel, Samantha Eichner, Brady (Bethany) Weijohn, Zachary Weijohn, Davita Eichner and Spencer (Kalyse) Weijohn. And twelve great-grandchildren: Noah, Zoe, Kenzie, Alexandra, Deegan, Hazel, Austyn, Violet, Reese, Rose, Hudson, and Taryn. A special thank you to her friend and caregiver Blanca Ortiz. She is preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Hasse and brother Jim Sutton. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 21 at 2:00 pm at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Followed by a memorial service at The All Nations Center, 3020 Ashue Rd. Wapato, WA at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mary’s memory to All Nations Center community outreach.
