Mary Maudeline Melton. 94 of Yakima WA, passed away on January 4, 2026, she was

born in Emerson MO. Sept. 6 th , 1931, to William and Lilian May Pritchett. When she

was a young girl, her family moved to Colorado for a few years before ultimately moving

west to Lynden WA, where her and her 9 siblings attended school. She enjoyed singing

with her brothers who would play guitar. She spent her summers working in the

strawberry fields to earn money for school shopping. In 1957 she adopted her son

Darryl Lee Melton as the greatest joy of her life! In the early 1960s she moved to

Yakima with him. In Yakima she went to work for Congdon Orchards where she worked

in several capacities from grafting in the orchards to packing in the warehouse and met

her Husband Otis Melton. She retired from there in the early 90’s. Otis and Mary took

great pride in their yard and flower/vegetable gardens, which were beautiful. They also

loved having the grandkids come over to visit during summer break. One of her great

joys was going to the casino and having many found memories of traveling to Jackpot,

NV with family.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents William and Lilian Pritchett. 5 siblings Lugene

(Jean) Pritchett, William Pritchett, Winford Pritchett, Leroy Pritchett, Tommy Pritchett.

Husband Otis Melton, 1 grandson, Leroy Melton. 1 great-grandson Wyatt Melton.

Survived by 4 siblings Naoma Hoffman, Shirley Penn, Delores Boykin and Donna Lou

Bremer. Her son Darryl Melton and his wife Cheryl. Grandkids Jessica Stone, April

Melton, Josh Melton,10 great grandkids and 2 great-great grandkids.
