Mary Dabney

January 4, 1940 — April 5, 2013

Mary C. Dabney (Bryant), 73, passed away on Friday, April 5th in the comfort of her home in Outlook, WA. Mary was born in Springfield IL to Erma C. and James M. Boyer II. Mary was one of twelve children, having six sisters and five brothers. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Mike and Merry Dabney of Granite Falls, WA, Linda and Glen Wilcox of Duvall, WA, Jeff and Mary Dabney of Outlook, WA, and Heather and Sean Russell of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and many close friends and family who love her dearly. In her early years she lived on a 100 acre farm in Liberty, IL with her parents and siblings where they worked hard helping their father build their family home. She finished her schooling in Quincy, IL where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Tom Dabney. Over the next years she had many great adventures across the country, traveling with her husband who was in the Navy. Her three eldest children were born in Virginia and the family later moved to San Diego where they made many fond memories enjoying the California coast and sunshine. After moving to Clearview, WA she enjoyed working in her garden, horseback riding, driving a school bus, attending church, and raising her children. Mary spent most of her remaining working life as a Certified Nursing Assistant and caring for others with love and compassion. She spent her later years enjoying time spent with family at her farm home in Eastern Washington. She was the hardest working woman you could have ever known. She bucked hay, moved irrigation pipes, helped birth baby calves, milked goats, and spent much of her time tending to the farm. At the age of 42, Mary adopted and raised her youngest daughter on the farm in Outlook WA. In retirement, she enjoyed many trips around the world, including Bora Bora, Tahiti, Christmas Island, the Hawaiian Islands, the Mexican Caribbean and many more places! She also loved traveling with her best friend Charlotte, visiting her sisters, brothers, and other friends and family across the country. Over the years, Mary was blessed and delighted to spend time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren; many times just sitting quietly enjoying being the matriarch of a large, loving family. Mary was a devoted Christian; her local church family started at Granger Assembly of God and ended at Wapato Assembly of God where she made many more friends in Christ throughout her life. Her family takes comfort knowing that she is at home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary will be put to rest beside her husband of 25 years, Tom Dabney, at GAR Cemetery in Snohomish, WA. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah, WA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be offered from 12pm to 7pm on Friday April 12th at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah, WA. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Snohomish, 1306 Lake View Ave Snohomish, WA on Saturday April 13th at 11:00am, with burial to follow at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery located at 8601 Riverview Rd NW Snohomish, WA.
