Mary Christianson

September 11, 1932 — September 26, 2016

Mary Christianson passed away peacefully at the age of 84 at Willow Springs Care Center on September 26, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Mary was born September 11, 1932 in Canyon City, Colorado to Ora Ray and Mary Fugate. She was the fourth of nine children. The family moved to Yakima Valley when she was very young and later she graduated from Selah High School. She then met and married Lawrence Christianson in 1953. Over the course of the next ten years they traveled for Lawrence’s career and had two children. Then they returned to the Yakima Valley. She went to work for a local physical therapist for six years and then ended her career to spend more time at home with their children. After the children were older she returned to work at Clasen’s Warehouse. Over the course of the next twenty years she made many friends and long lasting relationships. Mary spent countless hours socializing with friends while going to yard sales looking for treasures. After her retirement she and Lawrence traveled extensively across the United States. She is survived by her husband Lawrence of Yakima; her son Michael Christianson and wife, Jill; grandsons Cole and Riley of Selah; her granddaughter, Melissa Brackney of Yakima; her son-in-law, Floyd Craig of Yakima. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda G. Craig of Yakima; her parents, Ora Ray and Mary Fugate of Yakima; four brothers and four sisters. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Willow Springs Care Center for the outstanding care they provided Mary. Per the family’s request there will be a private graveside service.
