Martin Thacker

Martin Curtis Thacker left this world on September 7, 2017. He is now with the love of his life, his wife, Daray. Martin was born December 21, 1946 to Curtis and Tess Thacker. After attending A.C. Davis High School he was drafted into the marines. He was wounded in Vietnam and returned home. His military decorations were as follows: Purple Heart, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star and the Good Conduct Medal. Martin was very proud of being a Marine, and as such he was active in the Marine Corp League until his health prevented him from attending. He was also a member of the Yakima County Sheriff Citizen Patrol along with his wife Daray. In his later years, Martin was a member of the Vintiques Car Club of Yakima. His health was failing and he could not attend meetings but he did help out at the club's Northwest National Car Show. His joy was his 1967 Camaro. He is preceded in death by his wife Daray, parents Curtis and Tess, brother Clifford and numerous Aunts and Uncles. He is Survived by his sister Karen Thacker of Spokane, WA, nephew Martin Thacker of Entiat, WA, niece Katina Morgan of Spokane, WA. He was lovingly cared for by his sister-in-law Carlene McCotter and cousin Carolyn (Shorty) Thacker-Ross. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Tahoma Cemetery (1802 Tahoma Ave., Yakima, WA). A Celebration of Life will follow at the VFW Post 379 (118 S. 5th Ave., Yakima, WA) starting at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please have a mass said for him or make a donation to the VFW in his name.
