Martha Marie (Schelert) Schlenker (88) passed away May 21, 2024, in Toppenish, WA. She was born November 27, 1935, in Glasgow, MT to Albert and Lydia (Fauth) Schelert. She was the 8th of 14 children. She lived in Larslan, MT with her parents until they purchased a home in Glasgow. She attended school in Larslan and Glasgow, MT and Toppenish, WA. She worked in the fields with her father until 1947, when they moved to Toppenish, WA. Furthermore, she met and married Eugene Schlenker in 1953. She continued working in the fields with her husband until she obtained a job with Yakima Bait Company. She worked from home, tying fishing flies while caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flower garden. She was so talented and crocheted numerous doilies, quilts, and afghans. She enjoyed fishing and camping. She is predeceased by her father, mother, sister Maggie Franzen, brothers Albert, Edward, Rudolph, Joseph, Henry, and Edwin Schelert. She is survived by her children, Ron (Kim) Schlenker of Toppenish, Rick (Tammie) Schlenker of Zillah, WA, Janice Kirkpatrick of Redding, CA, and Jerry (Marjorie) Schlenker of Yakima, WA. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Theophil and Isaac (Leah), Sisters, Gertha (Don) Schlenker, all of Yakima, WA, Linda (Larry) Rabe of Toppenish, WA, Mary Schlenker of Cleveland, ND, and Sharon (Bob) Cory of Yakima, WA and numerous cousins. She was a long-time member of the Church of God 7th Day in Toppenish, WA. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and we will see her again in Heaven someday.
