Marshea Alice Sweowat “Wat-as-uslyn”, 64, of Wapato, WA passed away on July 16, 2019. Marshea was born on October 19, 1954 in Toppenish, WA to Gilbert D. Sweowat Sr. and Dorothy Mae Miller.
Marshea graduated from Utah Boarding school in 1979, and later attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. Marshea loved to do arts and crafts at home, including wood burning and paintings, she enjoyed the outdoors, traveling going to Potato Hill for huckleberry picking, being at the mountains, hunting with family, fishing, digging for roots, walks on the beach, traveling to Santa Fe and New Mexico. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Marshea is survived by her daughter, Felicia, son in law, Colton, her son, Elijah Sweowat, her only grandson, Delante “Sunshine”, her adopted daughter Murphy Mathilda Wildshoe, her grand daughters, Anastasia Nunez Sweowat, and Heather Nunez Sweowat, her sisters, Melvern Littlewolf, Karen Spencer (Nick) and Dina McGuire (Mike), her brother, Preston Windsor, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grand children.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Dee Sweowat Sr. and Dorothy Mae Miller, her brothers, Johnny Sweowat, Gilbert Sweowat Jr., Willis Sweowat, Elias Yallup and Aarron Johnson, and her sister Amy Sweowat Martin.
There will be a dressing held at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Wapato, WA on Friday, July 19, 2019, at 2:00 pm. Overnight Services to follow at the 1910 Shaker Church in White Swan, WA and burial will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 9 am at the Methodist Cemetery in White Swan, WA.
